 Following the end of the Russian Turkish war of 1768\,&nbsp\;the&n
 bsp\;Treaty of Küçük Kaynarca signed in 1774 allowed Greek merchant mar
 ine vessels to be armed for protection against pirate attacks and to sail 
 under the Russian flag. This treaty transformed a rather insignificant fle
 et into a major shipping player especially during the Napoleonic wars when
  Greek shop owners profited enormously by carrying goods to France. In 182
 1\, Greek mariners have a big number of ships\, guerilla naval warfare exp
 erience\, capital\, and guns and are ready to transform their fleet into a
  fighting force.&nbsp\; &nbsp\;Hellenic forces primarily from Hydra\, Spet
 ses\, Psara\, and Kasos brake blockades and prevent naval transport of lan
 d troops\, and find ingenious and daring ways to attack major vessels of t
 he line of the Ottoman fleet. In this event\, we will present this major s
 aga with the help of the Division of History of the Hellenic Navy.
